Pair of early 20th century botanical pressed flowers – Sweden 1916/17
Exquisite pair of pressed flowers, over 100 years’ old, from an early botanical collection by Victor Johnsson, from Sweden, created during World War 1. Two pressed flowers comprising a Cardamine Pratensis (Cuckoo flower) collected and pressed by Victor Johnsson on 5 June 1917, and a Lamium Purpureum (Red Deadnettle), collected and pressed by the same botanist but on 12 June 1916. These are beautiful pieces of artwork, both in good vintage condition (although there is a slight discoloration of the paper on one of them). The detailed description of the annotations on each page adds to the interest and appeal. Would look wonderful properly framed, and suitable for most rooms in the home.
