French antique stoneware glazed confit pot

Beautiful large antique French glazed stoneware in a light grey colour with some imperfections commensurate with age giving it a great patina.

A farmhouse pottery essential from the South West of France, these confit pots were used to store duck grease and cooked meat with a thick protective layer of fat on top.

This pot is adorned with two “ear” handles.   We love the attractive light grey colour of this piece.

Beautiful on its own or as part of a collection.
