French antique stoneware confit pot

Beautiful and unusual antique French glazed stoneware.

A farmhouse pottery essential from the South West of France, these confit pots were used to store duck grease and cooked meat with a thick protective layer of fat on top.

This pot is adorned with just one handle which is unusual.   We love the attractive light colour of this piece.  It is numbered 61.

Beautiful on its own or as part of a collection.
