Pair of vintage botanical pressed flowers – yellow star of Bethlehem and red clover

£58.00

Attractive pair of pressed flowers, both collected during the same 1939 expedition by Swedish botanist Torvald Fransson. These are lovely pieces of artwork, both in good vintage condition (with slight discoloration of the paper that is evidence of its pre-war heritage).  One is a pressed root, stalk and flower of the yellow star of Bethlehem, a Eurasian flowering plant species in the family Liliaceae.  It is widespread in central Europe with scattered populations in Great Britain, Spain and Norway to Siberia and Japan. This was collected in Vaggeryd, a small community in the south of Sweden and pressed on 22 April 1939.  The second is a root, stalk and flower of red clover (Trifolium Pratense), a herbaceous species of flowering plant in the bean family Fabaceae, native to Europe, Western Asia, and northwest Africa, This was also collected by the same botanist in the same area, pressed on 15 June 1939.  (A total of 5 pairs from the same botanist is available.)

The detailed description of the annotations on each page adds to the interest and appeal.

Would look wonderful properly framed or very simply hung on a peg.

Vintage ‘Peugeot Freres’ coffee grinder in yellow

£35.00

Highly collectable 1940/50s coffee grinder – or ‘moulin’ – made by the famous Peugeot brothers. In working order though with obvious signs of wear giving it a great patina and authentic worn finish. Lovely colour and ideal as a working and decorative piece for the kitchen shelf.

This model has a metal body, wooden top and chrome and wooden handle. It has a metal pull-out draw for the coffee once ground, and is marked with the Peugeot logo. These metal moulins were top of the range, and the Peugeot brothers produced these at their Valentigney workshop for many years prior to moving into car production. The company still makes coffee grinders and they are regarded as being of the best quality.

£28.00

This vintage French educational poster on board was originally designed by the prolific artist Bernard Carant in the 1930s. unusual vintage pine side table or desk Out Of Stock

Unusual vintage pine side table or desk

This is a very different and attractive side table, most probably from the first quarter of the 20th century.  Apart from having lovely detailed turned legs and shelf below, this table is unusual as its top lifts up providing ample secret and handy storage.

It could be used as a little desk for laptop or just to store personal stationary items etc.

It has a great bleached look which is very easy to pair up with any scheme.    It is full of beautiful rustic character with some signs of historic woodworm which has been treated.

A lovely stylish addition to any home.

charming 19th century still life, oil on canvas Out Of Stock

Charming late 19th century still life, oil on canvas

Very lovely and attractive French still life in the naive style, oil on canvas, of a jug with grapes. Dating from the end of the 19th century,  this painting has beautifully subtle tones.

We love the worn out edges on the canvas (“dans son jus”), which is a testament to its age, and giving it immense charm.

Superb mid century iron apothecary cabinet

Probably from the 1950s, this is a superb just off white industrial iron medical apothecary cabinet in great vintage condition.

The bottom cupboard has the original timber shelf, whilst the top glass section of the cabinet has one glass shelf. More glass shelves can be easily added if required. The top and bottom double doors are secured with turning hooks.

There is a little bit of rusting and a few knocks on the paint finish here and there, but this adds to the vintage mid century authenticity of the piece, and are by no means extensive. The piece is generally in good vintage condition.

The cabinet would make a stunning addition to a large bathroom or kitchen, or a fantastically cool bookcase.

We love the off white original paint finish, easily fitting in all home colour schemes.
