Vintage running board card tool box Out Of Stock

Vintage running board car tool box

Early 20th century (around 1915-25) car tool box that would have been affixed to the running board of a car of the period.  Made of steel and painted in black, this box has an attractive handle and clever little lock that opens with the squeeze of a toggle located underneath. It has been repainted in grey on the inside and you can still see the holes for the screws that would have fixed it to the boards.  The lock itself is stamped Eagle Lock Co, Terryville, USA. Eagle were a major manufacturer of locks in the USA from 1830 up to the end of WWII, including it is believed for tool boxes for the Model T Ford.

Nowadays this lovely shaped metal box would be an ideal storage solution or ideal to store the smaller tools used regularly in the home.

small 1920s chest of drawers Out Of Stock

Small 1920s chest of drawers

This is an unusual and very attractive piece from the turn of the century that probably started life as a small music cabinet but would now work marvellously as a small chest of drawers next to a bed or as an occasional chest/table alongside a sofa.

In original condition, it offers five drawers with original metal handles.  Useful, flexible and charming storage solution for the home.  We love the beautiful details and slight rustic charm.

Pair of vintage botanical pressed flowers – bearberry and white clover

Attractive pair of pressed flowers, both collected during the same 1939 expedition by Swedish botanist Torvald Fransson. These are lovely pieces of artwork, both in good vintage condition (with slight discoloration of the paper that is evidence of its pre-war heritage).  One is a pressed root, stalk and flower of the Arctostaphylos uva-ursi – or more commonly the bearberry, an evergreen, trailing shrub with alternate, delicately-veined leaves and reddish papery bark and small bell-shaped, pinkish-white flowers. The bearberry is found  in the subarctic Northern Hemisphere and, in the US and Canada, it is known as Kinnikinnick. This was collected by Fransson in Vaggeryd, a small community in the south of Sweden and pressed on 22 9 May 1939.  The second is a root, stalk and flower of the white clover (Trifolium Repens), a herbaceous species of flowering plant in the bean family Fabaceae, native to Europe and central Asia. This was also collected by the same botanist in the same area, pressed on 5 July 1939.  (A total of 6 pairs from the same botanist is available.)

The detailed description of the annotations on each page adds to the interest and appeal.

Would look wonderful properly framed or very simply hung on a peg.

19th century oleograph of Napoleon Out Of Stock

Unusual 19th century oileograph of Napoleon

Unusual 19th century Oileograph on canvas of younger-than-usual looking Napoleon in uniform and holding a telescope.

In its original beautiful frame, the picture has, like its subject, been in the wars with some damage to his hat and in the right corner. However, it has lovely atmospheric charm with good colours, and would surely have its place in most homes.
